CAMP DETAILS


Welcome! In our 21st year, the UTSA Choir Camp continues to be a leader in the Texas All-State Choir preparatory process.
Outstanding clinicians from prominent Texas high school music programs along with UTSA’s own superb conductors and faculty provide an intensive study of the All-State audition music to more than 250 high school campers from across the state of Texas.
All high school students and entering high schools students planning to participate in the All-State process are welcome to register.

TUITION DISCOUNTS


A $70 discount will be offered for All-State Choir Members
A $30 discount will be offered for Clinicians Students

PAYMENT DEADLINE


June 11th

**A $20 late fee will be applied to payments submitted after June 11th.

**Tuition is 75% refundable if written notification is received on or before Friday, June 2nd.

**Tuition is 50% refundable if notification is received between June 4th and June 23rd. After June 23rd, no refunds will be given.

WHAT TO DO THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP


Arrive and check-in at Alvarez Hall (formerly San Saba Hall) anytime between 2:00pm-5:00pm.
We are not able to accept any early campers.

You will be able to take your belongings to your room and set up your living arrangement (if time allows). Arrive at the Arts Building/Recital Hall at 6:30pm for opening ceremonies. You may choose to walk there in groups from Alvarez Hall, or you may travel by vehicle to Parking Lot BR1. Park only in unmarked spaces. Parking in marked spaces will be subject to a fine from the UTSA Parking Office. Campers' vehicles must be parked in the Alvarez Hall lot for the duration of camp. Parents may leave after camp registration or may stay for the 6:30pm opening ceremonies. If you choose to complete the dorm and camp registration toward the earlier part of the evening, remember that dinner will not be served. If accompanied by parent/guardian, you may elect to get dinner off campus with them after registration and return to the Music Building in time for the 6:30pm opening ceremonies. If you are registering without a parent or guardian, you will need to remain on campus after registration--so either eat dinner beforehand or bring it with you. If you need to arrive later than the designated registration time, please contact the Choir Camp Coordinator no later than 3pm on Friday, June 17th.

Should you bring a vehicle that will need to remain on campus, please know that once Camp officially opens, no camper will be permitted to drive his/her vehicle. You may park your vehicle in the Alvarez Hall parking lot. We strongly discourage campers from bringing personal vehicles.

WHAT TO DO THE LAST DAY OF CAMP

Campers will check out from their dorm room in the morning before walking to the music building, with the assistance of their counselors. Baggage will be stored in their counselor’s room for easy retrieval after camp is over.
Baggage should be packed the night before to ensure a fast check-out.

The culmination of Choir Camp ends with the last General Session in the Recital Hall on Wednesday from 3:30-5:00 p.m. If parents or friends plan to attend the session, please park in Lot BR1 in any of the pay stalls. Arrive early to pay for parking at the kiosk at an hourly rate of $2.00/hr. You can also park in the Bosque St. Garage or the Bauerle Garage and pay at the kiosks there. Parking in marked spaces will be subject to a fine from the UTSA Police Department.

Another alternative is offered this year for your convenience: a prepaid parking pass.

By adding $6.00 to your camp tuition, you can purchase a prepaid parking pass. We will mail you the parking pass, which is good in general student spaces (unmarked), Faculty B spaces, and Faculty A spaces. Note: parking in 24-hour Reserve spaces will result in a ticket from the campus police. The pass will allow you to park without having to wait in line to pay at the kiosk, and is valid for the whole day. However, it does not guarantee availability of a close parking space, as summer classes are in session and students will also be using the parking lots. Plan to arrive 45 minutes early to find parking and walk up to the Recital Hall. (And remember, it will be hot outside!) At the discretion of the Conductor, the repertoire will be performed in a concert-like format. Parents, family, and friends are invited to attend this session. Recordings of the concert may be purchased on site or order a CD online. Immediately following, campers will walk back to the dorm with their counselor group to collect their belongings, after which they may depart from camp.Any items left behind will be held in the Music Office (210-458-4354) for two weeks, and thereafter donated to charity. Campers who need to depart earlier than 5:00pm must submit their request in writing before the start of camp. No exceptions. In the letter, clearly state the time of departure and the person with whom the camper will be leaving.

PERMISSION TO LEAVE CAMPUS & EARLY DEPARTURES


Campers will not be permitted to leave camp for any reason (including visiting the home of a San Antonio relative or friend), unless we receive DETAILED written notification one week prior to the first day of camp. Campers may not leave camp with anyone under the age of 21. Questions may be submitted via email to the Camp Coordinator at choircamp@utsa.edu

If a camper must leave camp early due to medical or family emergency, a parent or legal guardian must contact the Camp Coordinator to sign the camper out.
